WEST CORNWALL TOWNSHIP COVID-19 RESPONSE PLAN

Date:  March 19, 2020

From:  Board of Supervisors

To:  Citizens of West Cornwall Township (WCT):

The Board of Supervisors wants to assure you that the health and safety of our citizens, staff, and community remains their top priority.  As the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) is having a greater impact in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, and the United States, the Supervisors thoughts are with all those who have been affected by the virus.  Because this is a rapidly-evolving situation, the Supervisors feel it is important to reach out to you about the steps we are taking across the WCT and their properties to help keep you, our citizens, staff, and our community safe and healthy.

PRESENT PROTOCALS AND PROCEDURES:

WCT PUBLIC INFORMATION –CONSISTENT MESSAGING

  • Rapidly changing and emerging information will make constant updating difficult. Please check the Township web site: westcornwalltwp.com for the latest information.
  • WCT links to CDC, and Pennsylvania Department of Health, to make sure we have the latest information
  • WCT is coordinating messaging with Lebanon County Department of Emergency Services.
  • Effective immediately (3/19/20), the WCT Municipal Building lobby will be closed.  Anyone needing to conduct business with the WCT of a non-emergency nature is asked to do by telephone or email. Operating hours are listed at westcornwalltwp.com.

WCT CONTINUING MITIGATION MEASURES

  • Encourage citizens and staff to take everyday preventive actions to stop the spread of germs.
  • Encourage citizens and staff to stay home when sick.
  • Teach citizens and staff the importance of staying home when sick until at least 24 hours after they no longer have a fever or signs of a fever (chills, feeling very warm, flushed appearance, or sweating) without the use of fever-reducing medicine.
  • Encourage respiratory etiquette among citizens and staff by covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or their bent arm.
  • WCT encourages hand hygiene among citizens and staff by washing hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds, dry hands with a paper towel and use the paper towel to turn off the faucet.  If soap and water are not available an alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol may be used.
  • Encourage citizens and staff to keep their hands away from their nose, mouth, and eyes.
  • WCT will perform routine surface cleaning in their facilities.  The Staff will routinely clean surfaces and objects that are touched often, such as desks, countertops, doorknobs, computer keyboards, faucet handles, phones, and vehicles.
  • WCT asks that its citizens follow the recommendations for “social distancing” by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the impact it may have on service delivery by WCT Staff.
